Teaching Practice
GP Registrars
As we are a GP associate training practice we are involved in the teaching and training of doctors who are specialising to become GPs – they are sometimes know as GP Registrars. They are qualified doctors who are engaged in their Postgraduate Training Programme with us at The Oaks Medical Centre.
When seeing one of these doctors you may be asked for your consent to video the consultation. This is part of the doctors’ training and is only ever used for teaching and training purposes.
Our current GP Registrar is Dr Akunma Nzepuome.
Medical Students
To further help with the education of future doctors we are linked to the University of Nottingham’s Medical School. We therefore often have medical students in the surgery. You will be informed when you book an appointment, or on arrival if this is the case. If you do not wish to have the student present during your consultation please let reception or the doctor know.
You will always be asked if you are happy to see a student or a student may sit in observing the consultation. Students are expected to behave in the same professional way as doctors and have the same understanding of confidentiality as we do.
